We have Sunday School at both of our Sunday services.
At 10:30, we have Sunday School each week. We typically have about 5-12 children. We start the service together in church with a prayer and a hymn, then the children (school age and above) go across to our church hall with a Sunday School leader and a helper (both DBS checked). They stay there for about 45 minutes, learning about the Bible topic for the week, and then come back to church during the Communion prayer. All children are welcome and there is no expectation of prior knowledge/behaviour.
At 4:30, we have Sunday School each week apart from the second Sunday of the month. On the second Sunday of the month, children stay in the church service for an all-age service. We typically have 25-35 children. We have two groups at the 4:30, one for smaller children and one for older. We start the service together in church with a prayer and a song, then the older children (year 1 and above) go across to our church hall with a Sunday School leader and a helper, while the younger children (reception and below) meet in the entrance area of church with a leader and usually several parents. If there is communion that week, the children come back to church during the communion prayer. If not, the children remain in the hall until the end of the service and the adults go over to the hall. Each week, there is a free meal offered for children, and teas and coffees for adults.
For little children, we ask that they remain accompanied by a parent/guardian throughout. Some choose to bring them over to Sunday School; others to use the space at the back of church where there is a space for the children; still others to be in the main service together. We also have two “fidget bags” available if that is helpful for your child (or you!)
We would love to see you and your family at one of our services. If there is anything that we can do to make things more accessible for you, please don’t hesitate to be in touch.
